It’s Better OFF to be a Carbon Pioneer

On the 22nd June Jo Hasbury, (Sustainability Manager) Anne Mumford, (Director of Change Projects) Jenny Turner, (Energy Technician)pictured above along with Alison Barlow, (Community Relations Officer) ,Hannah Beasley, (Action Chair, Loughborough Students Union) Simon Proffitt, (Chief Executive of LOROS and member of the University’s Council) Will Spinks,(Chief Operating Officer) Nigel Thomas, (Director of Student Services) Spent the evening at the Trent Vinyard in Nottingham to receive their Carbon Positive Award and to find out the results of the overall Category Award, Carbon Positive Pioneer.

It’s Better OFF to be a Carbon Pioneer

Business in the Community mobilises business for good. Working with businesses to build a sustainable future for people and planet.
Their approach to responsible business provides a framework to support and challenge business to improve its performance and benefit society through four areas of expertise – community, environment, workplace and marketplace.

In June 2010 Loughborough University went to the awards to collect their Carbon Positive award (for companies with 250+ employees)To the surprise of the Sustainability team they also took home the overall category award for Carbon Positive Pioneer Award.
It is a massive achievement to receive this award when being up against large companies like Boots, E-ON and Experian to name just a few.
