The University has a Woodland Management Group and organises conservation volunteer days.

Conservation Volunteer Events 2011/2012
All events run from 12.30pm – 4.00pm
November 2nd 2011 – Butler Court Conservation Area Clean Up.
This event will be led by Dr Paul Wood, Senior Lecturer in Physical Geography. As Paul has a special interest in conservation of aquatic habitats he will be able to guide the volunteers as they help clean up the Butler Court pond. Other work will include some clearance of shrubs, stacking of wood and creation of habitat piles in the area led by our Grounds & Gardens Team.
November 23rd 2011 – Burleigh Woods Conservation.
This event is led by Mark Hillman, Senior Arborist and his colleague Jezz. Work will include hazel coppicing, sycamore pulling, creation of habitat piles and some stream clearance.
February 15th 2012 – Holywell Woods Conservation.
This event is led by Mark Hillman, Senior Arborist and his colleague Jezz. Work will include hazel coppicing, sycamore pulling and theccreation of habitat piles.
February 18th & 19th February 2012 – Planting of Fruit Trees to develop Fruit Route on Campus.
This event will be led by Anne-Marie Culhane, an artist supporting the new Fruit Route Project at the University and our Grounds & Garden Team. It is hoped around 300 fruit and nut trees will be planted at this event.
