It's Better OFF Over a Bank holiday

Every time the university is closed for a day it is an opportunity to make a saving in energy consumption.
Just by carrying out simple actions like switching lights off and turning our monitors off when we go to lunch helps save a lot of energy over the year.
In 2008/9 Loughborough University saved £119,000 and 708 tonnes of carbon, just by carrying out simple actions.
The bank holiday is coming up so to make the most of this opportunity we ask before you leave the office for your long weekend please remember to…
- Shut down all PC's and laptops
- Switch off all monitors
- Switch off all printers & faxes (where possible)
- Switch off all lights
- Switch off all heaters, air con units and extract fans
- Switch off any research equipment that doesn't need to be on
- Set any timers on equipment to stay off over the break
- Unplug any transformers or phone and laptop chargers that are not required.
Basically switch off anything that doesn't need to be on over the Bank Holiday.
But remember, DO NOT switch off any essential equipment like fridges or specialist research equipment that is in use!
