Windows 7 the platform for all new computers. Contact your Local IT Staff or IT.Services@lboro.ac.uk or telephone 01509 222333 if you require further help and support.
This service is for computers connected to the University network for work purposes; it is not for personal computers for private use. Portable Computers and Laptops must be regularly connected to the Internet to ensure that the system is kept up to date. Some critical updates require you to connect to the campus network if for any reason you are unable to connect to the network for longer than four weeks, please contact your local IT support person or IT Services on your return.
To reduce power consumption, you should also ensure that computers are switched off every night, if not every weekend. We understand that sometimes long computer simulations are run, so not all users will be able to switch off.
You must not attempt to install Antivirus software, Microsoft Office, or any of the software already included in the service.
