Recognised Degrees
Chartered Status - Our MEng and BEng degrees aim to prepare you for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, with each degree accredited by at least one of the four main CEng organisations. The MEng degree fulfils the entire academic requirement to achieve CEng status while the BEng degree requires further academic training. Not all engineering professions require CEng status and many of our BSc degrees can allow you to go onto achieve Chartered or Professional status in your field.
Industrial Placements - Loughborough offers more engineering sandwich degrees than any other UK university. Our unrivalled industrial links allows us to offer students placements with many of the world’s best engineering companies. The majority of our students usually choose the sandwich option, which takes place during their third year, because it gives them the opportunity to apply their knowledge and this often shows in higher exam results and a final year project based on their experience in industry. Students also learn to clarify their career interests and often end up with a good job offer upon graduation.
Highly employable graduates - For the last 10 years, the Faculty has been rated in the top 5 by leading UK engineering companies and over 90% of our graduates are employed in a graduate job within 6 months of completing their studies.
Sponsored degrees - Every year we offer over 100 places on our industry focused sponsored degree programmes.
According to UCAS figures, Loughborough University has been the UK's most popular choice for engineering as over the last six years, we have received more applications for our undergraduate programmes than anywhere else in the country.
Life on campus
The Accommodation - All students who place us as their first choice are guaranteed a place in hall for at least the first year. Most students also have the option to stay at least one more year in halls. Each hall room also has a telephone and fast internet connection. The Facilities – Set on a beautiful 437 acre single-site campus, close to Leicester, Nottingham and Derby, there are over 5,000 students living in halls on or close to campus, creating a truly unique and friendly atmosphere. The Students’ Union is one of the biggest Student’s Unions in the UK with a vibrant social scene and over 100 clubs and associations to get involved in.
The Town - Loughborough town (population 50,000) is a short walk from campus and has numerous shops, bars and entertainment facilities.

Research
Nearly half of the University's income is for research and our research partnerships and links with business and industry are the envy of other institutions.
Our strength in engineering is also recognised by the fact that in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, through a combination of its quality and quantity, our engineering research ranked in the UK Top 5. We have strong links with some of the UK’s biggest engineering companies including, Adidas, Sir Robert McAlpine, Astra Zeneca, BAE SYSTEMS, BP, Caterpillar, Dunlop Slazenger, Ford, JCB, Lotus, Rolls Royce and Reebok.
