Built Environment
The research strategy of the Built Environment research area is to work with the construction industry and their clients to identify and interpret their future needs and to contribute to the national and international agenda. Involvement of industry in research projects is ensured by a well-established network of construction organisations who assist in determining research strategy.
Based within the Department of Civil and Building Engineering research is divided into five project areas (links to follow shortly):

- Sustainability and Building Performance
Research continues to be put into practice by testing new methodologies, implementing new systems, and knowledge transfer, through guidance documents, new software standardisation and training.
Our international academic collaboration helps us to generate innovative solutions. Our industrial collaboration enables these solutions to be fully tested, adapted and implemented.
