TESTIMONIALS

"I enjoyed my time at Loughborough. The Department is small and friendly. I knew most of the lectuers and they got to know me. I was not just another student. The best part about the course was that I could choose the direction I wanted because of the broad range of options available". Marcus Shaw, Physics and Mathematics (BSc DIS).

"I can't recommend Loughborough highly enough. The department was large enough to offer a broad range of well taught modules, but small enough to know people on a first name basis. THe staff (academic and support) frequently went above and beyond the call of duty throughout my course. When you consider this alongside the fantastic campus, union and general experience at Loughborough you begin to understand why the University as a whole is rated so highly. I wound't change my four years at all. Martin Smith, Physics and Management (BSc DIS)

Our programmes

The Department's degree programmes aim to provide both a fundamental understanding of physics and to prepare students for employment. You will be part of a small and friendly Department, which allows a more personal "open door" policy than many larger Departments. We offer a wide range of single and joint-honours degree programmes, leading to the degrees of BSc or MPhys after three or four years of academic study. The joint programmes, taught in conjunction with leading Departments from across of the University, are designed for those seeking a broader academic experience. The programmes are designed with flexibility in mind: it is possible to transfer between most of these programmes, in some cases as late as the start of the final year. In this way you can decide after you come to Loughborough whether you want to specialise in physics or broaden your studies.

We offer a wide range of single- and joint-honours degree programmes, leading to the degree of:

  • Master of Physics (MPhys) (4 years of academic study)
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) (3 years of academic study)
