Richard Foreman Research Archive
American playwright and director, Richard Foreman, has been making experimental theatre work in New York since 1968. Over that period, he has developed a unique performance vocabulary that has been much written about, but is best encountered through seeing his work in production.
The Department of English and Drama at Loughborough is proud to curate the Richard Foreman Research Archive: a unique collection of recordings of Foreman's plays in performance that enables researchers and students in the UK and Europe to see the work in its original theatrical context. The archive currently holds recordings of nine complete productions, together with excerpts from many more, including some of his earliest work. Additional archive materials include production stills, posters and some working scripts and cue sheets.

In May 2006, Richard Foreman and his creative collaborator Sophie Haviland visited Loughborough University as part of the International Bridge Project and worked with local artists, performers and students on the creation of original film material that will be used in Foreman's theatre work in New York. Trust Me, a documentary DVD covering the entire filming process, is now available for purchase.
Please contact Neal Swettenham for further information on visiting the archive and buying the DVD.
"How to write a play: make a kind of beauty that isn't an alternative to a certain environment...but rather makes GAPS in the non-beautiful..."
