Commercial Management & Quantity Surveying
![]() |
Introduction
Every construction project is unique - a different building, constructed on a different site by a different team of workers. Unlike manufactured goods, the product cannot be amended in the next production run.
This unique aspect of construction demands a high level of commercial and technical management expertise.
Quantity Surveyors and Contracts Managers supply much of the Commercial Management within the industry. They deal with contract documentation, company and project finance and legal matters, both on site and in the office.
As construction is always a team effort, personal relationship skills also have to be developed.
This programme was developed jointly by Loughborough University and sixteen major contractors to meet the needs of tomorrow's commercial managers. These major companies have shown their commitment by sponsoring both the programme and the course students.
For more details, see the course web site at http://cmqs.lboro.ac.uk.
Accreditation
The programme is fully accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and The Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors.
