Sue Coates specialises in institutions and human resources and until recently was a Regional Advisor for UNICEF in West Africa, covering 24 countries. Highlights at WEDC include Associate Director of WELL – a responsibility that included the development of innovative models for in-country sector resource centres; Task Manager for 'Training for Real', a project investigating strategic approaches to the development and forecasting of sector human resources in Uganda; scoping in India to develop national sector capacity strategies in support of sector reform; and advising DFID on the global human resource crisis in the water and sanitation sector. Sue is working with UNICEF on a PPP for handwashing with soap and has a specific interest in how sanitation, water and hygiene impact upon the achievement of health, nutrition and education MDGs.
