I am a first year PhD student at Loughborough University. I completed my MSc at Greenwich, London before I came here. There are several reasons why I enjoy Loughborough; firstly, my supervisors are both very friendly and strong in the sphere that I am interested in; the initial contact was quite successful. Secondly, I got to know that Loughborough is a small and peaceful town, and the University is famous for its sports achievements and facilities. I am the kind of person who likes quiet and sport. Over the last few months since I came here, I am fully convinced that my choise was right. I play badminton regularly, I work out at Powerbase quite often and have had a taste of tennis. The house that I live in is quiet and my landlady is warm and friendly. Thirdly, the IT technical staff in the Department of Computer Science are very supportive, patient and helpful. Last, but not least, I found my belief here and I was baptized in a local church. Loughborough is my spiritual home. I would highly recommend Loughborough University as it is a really nice place to carry on with your research and studies.

Loughborough means so much to me. Back in the 1980's, I was an undergraduate at Loughborough University of Technology. My husband and I got married here and now we bring our family to Loughborough. I had been working in several places in Malaysia and when the time came to further my studies, I had no hesitation to choose Loughborough University. I know that this university provides good facilities and good teaching staff. My supervisors are very friendly and very supportive towards my research.

Loughborough University has state-of-the-art sports facilities which obviously attract people like myself. I play sports a lot, including badminton and tennis which helps to relieve any tension and I can socialise with other postgraduate students.

It is very convenient for me to travel around Loughborough. As a mother of three children, I need to juggle the time between my family and my studies. As time is like gold dust, I can run errands in a jiffy around Loughborough. Getting halal food is not a problem either for me since there are a few halal shops in the town area. Other specialist food suppliers include a Chinese supermarket and other major supermarkets like Sainsbury, Tesco and Morrison. There are also outdoor markets held each Thursday and Saturday in the town centre. Loughborough is also surrounded by big cities such as Birmingham, Nottingham and Leicester. My husband and I can easily take our children to these cities within approximately one hour, in contrast with Kuala Lumpur (where I come from) which can be a nightmare. Studying here means I can manage my time more efficiently.

Studying at Loughborough University is a once in a lifetime experience. I've had my Master's degree from Loughborough University and now I am undertaking my PhD studies here. The teaching environment here is top notch, and both people in the local community and university are so friendly and supportive. When I first got here I got all the support and help I needed to make me feel right at home. Studying in the Computer Science department is a wonderful yet challenging experience; you are always kept up to date on the latest technologies and research that has been done all around the world. The department has all the latest facilities provided for its students, it is a world class department.

Loughborough as a town is a majestically beautiful and quiet place. It has all the amenities and services that you could think of. Student life here is full of all kinds of activities all year round, no wonder it is rated a top in student experience around the whole country. The town is situated in the middle of England which makes it very easy to explore different parts of the country without having to travel far. I would always recommend studying at Loughborough University as it is one of the best experiences I have had in my life.

Loughborough is a very lovely place. I completed my Masters degree in London but I didn't feel my heart was in London so I came to study at Loughborough University. Loughborough is a very peaceful and less hectic place to stay and I live in a very warm and nice neighbourhood. Studying at the university itself is more convenient and easier to reach. The staff at the university are very helpful, not just helping out but also caring to each other, I feel like I am working and studying with my own family. I love doing my job in the lab because we have 10 Malaysians and more than 20 Asians and it is like studying in my home town only with different weather and different food! Loughborough is really 'top notch'.
