Dr. David R. WorrallLecturer in Physical Chemistry
Prof. Frank WilkinsonEmeritus Professor of Physical Chemistry
Dr. Siān L. Williams Worrall(Publications as Siān L. Williams Lecturer in Physical Chemistry I completed my degree and PhD at Loughborough University in 1996, studying electron transfer reactions on silica gel surfaces working with Professor Frank Wilkinson. From 1996-2001 I worked with Professor Wilkinson within the photochemistry group. During this time I spent 3 years working on a project developing a biocompatible light-activated tissue adhesive for use in a wide range of surgical applications. My other research interests include non-linear optical phenomena of novel bimolecular systems, the applications and kinetics of photochromic materials and reaction kinetics on surfaces. I worked for three years on a DTI-EPSRC link project XVista in collaboration with Dr R.J. Mortimer and Dr David Worrall under the management of information (MI) programme. We are investigating the encoding of security information onto materials using electrically and/or optically readable polymers and dyes. The project is running in parallel with work at the industrial partners Wilson (Process) Systems Ltd. and at the School of Engineering, University of Sussex, where the electronic aspects of image encoding, sensing, systems processing and integration will be investigated. Ms. Nadya MuhammedResearch Student I completed my degree at Loughborough University in 2005. I have now started a PhD working with Dr David Worrall studying the photophysics of triplet states and singlet oxygen in supercritical fluids. Back to Photochemistry Group Home page
